The DPRK accused the Republic of Korea (ROK) of launching an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in its direction on January 4. This was reported on January 10 by the South Korean Yonhap news agency.

"[North Korea] accuses South Korea of the January 4 drone invasion and warns of countermeasures," the statement said.

The Reuters news agency also reports that the UAV flew near the South Korean city of Icheon, after which it ended up in North Korean airspace and was shot down.

Earlier, on November 10, former South Korean President Yoon Seok-yel was accused of trying to provoke a military conflict with the DPRK and passing secret data to the enemy. Charges were also brought against former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun and former head of the counterintelligence command of the Armed Forces Ye In-hyun. It is clarified that in October last year, the defendants allegedly sent drones to the DPRK in order to provoke the country to retaliate and get a reason to impose martial law in South Korea.
