Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that the current stage of discussions around the conflict in Ukraine is the closest to reaching peace agreements. He announced this on January 9 on the TRT TV channel.

"Countless meetings, negotiations, online conferences, and face-to-face meetings are being held on this issue. We have ongoing negotiations at the leadership level and at our level," Fidan said.

According to him, as a result of diplomatic efforts, the parties are now closer to peace agreements than ever before, although there is still a distance to the ideal result.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that representatives of the administration of US President Donald Trump had practically agreed with Ukraine on all aspects of a possible agreement to end the conflict. According to the Axios portal, the parties are awaiting a response from Russian President Vladimir Putin, while a visit by Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky to the United States to finalize the agreements is not excluded.
