A man in the United States was accused of stealing about 100 bodies of the deceased
In the United States, a man was accused of stealing human remains from a cemetery. This was reported on January 8 by the Associated Press, citing law enforcement agencies.
"Bones and skulls that were spotted in the back seat of a car near an abandoned cemetery on the outskirts of Philadelphia led police to a basement filled with human remains," the agency noted.
According to police, the man was collecting about 100 sets of human remains and was detained with a crowbar in his hands and a bag with mummified body parts. He was charged with desecrating the bodies of the deceased, possession of stolen property, desecration of a historical burial site, burglary, trespassing and embezzlement.
Earlier, on January 7, it was reported that an employee of the Harvard Medical School morgue was sentenced to eight years in prison for trafficking in body parts of the deceased. He stole the brains, skin, hands, and faces of the deceased, whose bodies were donated to the university for scientific research, and then sold them online for profit. The court also ordered punishment for his wife, who helped in criminal activities, the university's donation program was suspended, and a number of organs and tissues were confiscated.
