Russian Armed Forces soldiers have invented night vision goggles for hunting enemy UAVs at night

Military personnel of the 6th Brigade of the Southern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation, serving in the area of a special military operation (SVO), independently invented and created special night vision goggles for hunting enemy drones at night. The corresponding footage is published by Izvestia on January 9.

"These are ordinary VR glasses designed to intercept FPV drones. We've redone them, installed a night camera. Now they serve us to detect FPV drones and foot groups at night," said the commander of the 3rd anti-aircraft missile platoon with the call sign Bely.

The new invention allows military personnel to cover the airspace from enemy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Both shock and reconnaissance missions. At the same time, the arsenal of fighters includes not only aerial equipment. Vehicles equipped with special weapons for these purposes are also used in the SVO zone.

"To suppress and destroy enemy UAVs, the calculation of this vehicle uses four types of weapons at once. This is electronic warfare (EW. — Ed.), two machine guns, a smoothbore shotgun and even MANPADS (a portable anti-aircraft missile system. — Ed.)," said Izvestia correspondent Egor Kildibekov.

The head of the 3rd calculation of unmanned systems with the call sign Malaya spoke about other features of the use of drones in the Seversky tactical area of the SVO zone.

"There are mostly plains here, so it's quite difficult to approach the enemy unnoticed," he said.

Earlier, on January 8, the Russian Ministry of Defense published footage of the combat work of troops of unmanned systems. The operators of the FPV drones of the North group of forces destroyed three patch antennas and three pickups with enemy ammunition. An aircraft-type UAV of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Sumy region was also hit.
