An emergency warning was announced in Crimea due to the threat of rising water levels to a height of 1.5 m. This was announced on January 8 in the main directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region in the Telegram channel.

"According to the Crimean Department of Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, during the day on January 9, water levels are expected to rise by 0.5 - 1.5 m on the rivers of the southwestern foothills of Crimea without reaching dangerous levels," the statement said.

For safety reasons, the department recommended to exclude access to mountainous and forested areas, to refrain from going out to sea and inland waters, not to go out to embankments and coastal defenses, and also to limit stay in the immediate vicinity of riverbeds, including dried-up ones.

It was also recommended to pay attention to the condition of drainage systems, drainage channels, storm drains, and waste disposal of storm sewers.

Earlier, on December 27, it was reported that up to 980 million rubles would be allocated in Krasnodar for the reconstruction of the water intake. According to the terms of the state contract, the contractor will have to carry out engineering surveys, develop design estimates and carry out reconstruction of the facility. The work itself will be divided into three stages, the news agency clarifies.
