NetBlocks reported Internet outage in Iran amid protests
The international Internet monitoring service NetBlocks has recorded a sharp deterioration in Internet connection in Tehran and several other cities of Iran amid ongoing protests. This was announced on January 8 by the NetBlocks service on the social network X.
The organization noted that the failures affected several telecom operators at once.
"The network data demonstrates that Tehran and other parts of Iran are currently plunging into digital darkness, as the connection has been disconnected from several providers at once," the report said.
At the same time, Iranian officials have not announced any restrictions on Internet access.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that the United States expressed support for Iranian citizens participating in peaceful protests. According to Vice President of the United States Jay Dee Vance, Washington stands in solidarity with those who seek the realization of their civil rights through nonviolent means.
In addition, on January 6, it became known that the protesters had actually taken control of the cities of Abdanan and Malekshahi in Ilam province, and the demonstrations were accompanied by increased security measures by the security forces.
