American journalist Tucker Carlson said on January 8 that US President Donald Trump could make history if he builds good relations with the Russian Federation.

"If Donald Trump wants to do one thing as president that will forever secure his place in history as a hero, it will be to bring Russia back into the alliance with the United States," Carlson said in a new episode of the show on his YouTube channel.

He also stressed the importance of Russia for the United States, saying that Moscow was "necessary" for Washington. He also stressed that the United States will not be able to survive a global conflict if Russia and China are united against them.

Earlier, on December 19, Carlson pointed out the West's guilt in strained relations with Russia. He called the Russian president one of the most respected leaders in the world, noting his great and hard work as the country's leader.

A week earlier, on December 11, Carlson called Russia the most advantageous ally for the United States. He noted that Russia is the largest country in the world with significant reserves of minerals, energy resources, oil, gas and gold.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on December 8 that Russia and the United States would be able to "restore" bilateral relations in the future and bring them out of crisis while eliminating irritants.
