A new record for the total amount of lottery winnings has been set in Russia.

The New Year's Billion from Russian Lotto has set a new record for the total amount of winnings in one draw among Russian state lotteries. This was reported in the Stoloto press service.

A total of 4.2 billion rubles were raffled off among the participants of the New Year's Billion. The previous record was set on January 1, 2025. Then almost 3.7 billion rubles were raffled off.

"In total, a record 4,247,063,723 rubles were drawn in the New Year's edition of the Russian Lotto on January 1 for Russian state lotteries! This year, for the first time, three participants from the Sverdlovsk, Novosibirsk and Tyumen regions shared the main prize of the New Year's Billion drawing in 1 billion rubles. Another one, from the Lipetsk region, won a prize of 100 million rubles, which appeared for the first time in the New Year's draw, so four lottery multi—millionaires appeared in Russia in one day," said Varvara Basanovich, Stoloto's Chief Operating Officer.

98 people from different regions won 1 million rubles each. Another 78 participants closed all 30 numbers simultaneously on the 65th move and divided the remaining two million prizes among themselves.

In total, according to the results of the "New Year's Billion", 14,748,754 tickets became winners.

As noted in Stoloto, in the first week of January, only 10 out of 102 winners of over 1 million rubles registered winnings. Stoloto transfers all unclaimed winnings to the state budget after the expiration of the statutory period, the company recalled.

The New Year's drawing of the Russian Lotto on January 1, 2026 was traditionally held under the control of the circulation commission. She ensures that the principle of randomness in forming a winning combination is respected. Following the results of the draw, the draw committee signed a protocol that confirms that the draw took place without any violations. In addition, as additional measures, independent experts from F6, a Russian developer of technologies to combat cybercrime, monitored the lottery.
