- The State Duma proposed to raise the pension allowance for care to the minimum wage level
State Duma deputies from the LDPR faction, led by party leader Leonid Slutsky, proposed raising the retirement allowance to the minimum wage for citizens over 80 years old, as well as for the disabled of the first group, including those with disabilities from childhood and those who were disabled due to military trauma. The relevant bill has been sent to the House of Parliament for consideration. This became known on January 8.
"The draft law proposes to establish that citizens who have reached the age of 80, as well as people with disabilities of group I, including those with disabilities from childhood of group I and those with disabilities due to military trauma or illness, receive a care supplement to their pensions in an amount equal to the minimum wage established in accordance with the Federal Law "On Minimum Wage", — stated in the document, which was reviewed by RIA Novosti.
The authors of the initiative note that the draft law does not provide for additional mandatory requirements for persons caring for these categories of citizens in terms of working capacity or employment.
According to Slutsky, the current surcharge of 1,300 rubles barely corresponds to reality.
"Every pensioner, and especially a person with a disability, has the right to the help of a highly qualified specialist and proper care if such support is not able to provide children and other close relatives for one reason or another," he stressed.
The parliamentarian added that according to the current legislation, recipients will be able to spend this amount both on paying for a nurse and on other necessary needs at their own discretion.
