Within 30 days from the date of termination of employment under the employment contract, the employer is obliged to pay sick leave. This was announced on January 7 by Victoria Zabolotskaya, Associate Professor of the Department of International Business at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.

"In case of dismissal of an employee, it is his last employer who is obliged to pay sick leave if the ex-employee falls ill within 30 calendar days from the date of termination of work under an employment contract with the employer," the Prime agency quoted her as saying.

However, this will be possible if the retired employee has lost his ability to work due to injury or illness and the employee has not found another job during the sick leave period.

It is noted that the employer may refuse to pay if the sick leave is issued to care for a child or a relative.
