The Prime Minister of Norway declared the need for unification with Denmark
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gare Stere said it was necessary to "unite with Denmark" amid discussions about a possible purchase of Greenland by the United States. This was reported on January 7 by the Norwegian TV channel NRK.
According to NRK, Stere discussed this issue with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in Paris on Tuesday.
"Now is the time to unite with Denmark... The last thing Mette Frederiksen said to me was, "It's serious now, Jonas," the Norwegian prime minister said.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that US President Donald Trump is discussing with his national security team a plan for a possible purchase of Greenland. White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt noted that such an idea is not new and has been discussed by American leaders since the 19th century, while Trump's priority remains a diplomatic solution to the issue.
