The EU leadership met with Zelensky and discussed Ukraine's accession to the union

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa met with Ukrainian Leader Volodymyr Zelensky in Nicosia, Cyprus, to discuss Ukraine's accession to the EU. This was announced by the head of the EC on January 7.

"I was glad to meet with Vladimir Zelensky in Nicosia today. Yesterday's agreement on security guarantees is a key step in our work to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. Ukraine's accession to the EU is in itself the most important guarantee of security," Ursula von der Leyen wrote in publication X (ex. Twitter).
