A US Immigration officer (ICE) shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during an operation against protesters. This was reported on January 7 by the CBS television channel with reference to the Department of Homeland Security.

"The victim was a 37-year-old woman. According to US Senator Tina Smith, she was a US citizen," the publication says.

Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said ICE agents were conducting immigrant-related operations in the city. The deceased allegedly used the car as a weapon to knock down the ICE officers and escape.

"I am aware of a shooting involving an ICE officer at the intersection of 34th Street and Portland Avenue. <...> We demand that ICE officers leave the city immediately," commented Mayor Jacob Frey on the social network X.

The shooting is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
