A massive horse meat poisoning occurred in the Moscow region, presumably leading to botulism — eight people, including four children, were hospitalized. This was announced on January 7 by a source of Izvestia.

The incident occurred in the village of Kholudenevo, Ramenskoye city district. According to the information received, the meat was bought in Kostroma and deep-fried on January 4.

The victims have symptoms characteristic of botulism: double vision, photophobia, hoarseness of voice, difficulty swallowing and severe weakness. It is noted that one of the patients is connected to a ventilator. Another person refused to be hospitalized after the examination, but is now being evacuated for medical treatment.

On the same day, it was reported that a check was being carried out in Sochi after the mass poisoning of a children's rugby team at a hotel in the resort village of Loo. It was noted that schoolchildren aged 10-12 came to the city to participate in sports competitions.

The Moscow Rugby Federation reported that nothing threatens the health of children after poisoning in Sochi. It was clarified that not a single child was hospitalized by ambulance, doctors were on duty at the hotel all night, and all necessary measures were taken promptly. Later, a criminal case was opened into the poisoning.
