US President Donald Trump maintains very open and honest relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. This was announced on January 7 by White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt.

"I think the president has very open, honest and good relations with both Russian President Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping," Leavitt said during a briefing.

She recalled that Trump has repeatedly spoken with the leaders of Russia and China since taking office about a year ago, and she believes that these personal relationships will continue.

On December 29, the American leader said that his conversation with the Russian president had been very good and productive. Trump noted that despite the productive dialogue, several very difficult and "thorny" issues remain between the countries.

Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said on December 29 that Putin had 17 contacts with foreign representatives in 2025, including the Russian leader's visit to Alaska, 10 telephone conversations with Trump and six meetings with his special envoys.

Former US President Joe Biden, Tara Reid, noted on January 1 that Trump has respect for Putin, whom he is even a little afraid of. She drew attention to the fact that the American leader respects Russian culture and is well aware that the Russians and the sovereignty of their state are the main love of the Russian president.

Trump announced in November that he had accepted Xi Jinping's invitation to visit China in April. The US president added that he and the Chinese president had made significant progress in discussing bilateral agreements and agreed to communicate more often.
