"According to Yemen Airlines, two more commercial flights from Socotra Island to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) will be launched. Flights IY5060 are scheduled for January 8 and 9, 2026," the diplomatic mission said in a statement.
The Embassy clarified that tickets for these flights can only be purchased at the offices of Yemen Airlines, which are located in Socotra, Aden, Riyadh, Jeddah, Dubai, Cairo, Mumbai and other cities.
Dmitry Rusakov, one of the tourists, told Izvestia on the same day that the situation for Russian tourists on Socotra Island remains stable. The first group has already flown out. According to the vacationer, the first group of tourists flew to Jeddah this morning. People continue to be accommodated, fed and provided with everything they need on the coast.
On January 5, the Russian Embassy in Yemen announced that there was no data on the restoration of flight schedules to Socotra Island, where dozens of Russian tourists are staying. The diplomatic mission clarified that over the past two days, appeals have been received regarding several dozen Russian citizens staying on the island. The Embassy collects data, considers evacuation options, and cooperates with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the Yemeni authorities.
The Saudi-led coalition launched a military operation on December 31. This happened after the UAE ships docked at the port of the republic without approval. Later, the Yemeni authorities announced the imposition of a state of emergency on the territory of their state for a period of 90 days, and also demanded that the UAE withdraw all forces from their country within 24 hours.
