A criminal case has been opened in Sochi over the poisoning of rugby players in a hotel. This was announced on January 7 by the regional directorate of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation.

According to preliminary data, on the night of January 7, a group of underage athletes and adults who arrived at sports training camps showed symptoms of poisoning. They received medical assistance, and there is no threat to their life or health. The investigators, together with Rospotrebnadzor, took samples for research.

On the same day, it was reported that a check was being carried out in Sochi after the mass poisoning of a children's rugby team at a hotel in the resort village of Loo. It was noted that schoolchildren aged 10-12 came to the city to participate in sports competitions.

The Moscow Rugby Federation reported earlier that day that the children's health was not in danger after the poisoning in Sochi. It was clarified that not a single child was hospitalized by ambulance, doctors were on duty at the hotel all night, and all necessary measures were taken promptly.
