A farewell ceremony for actress Brigitte Bardot was held in France.
The farewell ceremony for French actress Brigitte Bardot ended at the church of Notre-Dame de l'assompsion in Saint-Tropez (Var department in southern France), the France24 TV channel reported on January 7.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Bardot family, her friends, and representatives of the actress' animal welfare foundation. Legendary singer Mireille Mathieu, actor Jean-Paul Belmondo's son Paul, and leader of the National Unification Party Marine Le Pen came to honor the memory of the actress. The church was also attended by musicians from the French band Gipsy Kings and Canadian environmentalist Paul Watson, a well-known fighter against whale hunting.
"Brigitte Bardot personified France. She possessed amazing beauty, both physically and mentally. I've always admired what she did," Mathieu said.
The last journey of the Bardo was accompanied by applause. At the request of the actress' family members, those present were forbidden to take photographs and videos. The actress was buried near the grave of her first husband, director Roger Vadim (born Vadim Plemyannikov, 1928-2000) at the Naval Cemetery.
