Lukashenko spoke about the prayer to God for Christmas
On January 7, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko told the parishioners of the church that his prayer for a frosty and snowy winter had been answered.
"Well, that's what we wanted, and I also asked the Lord that there be frost and snow. Listen, well, that's how it turned out. Even with a margin," BelTA news agency quoted the Belarusian leader as saying.
On Christmas Day, Lukashenko visited the church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Mammalian" in the village of Okolitsa, Minsk region. He noted that although this winter is not as snowy as in his childhood, it is still real, and wished the parishioners the same real life.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Christmas services on the night of the holiday were held in more than 500 churches in Moscow, as well as throughout Russia. Services were held, in particular, in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the Novodevichy Monastery and the Church of the Ascension of Christ. Residents of the Far East were the first to celebrate Christmas.
