- The political scientist called the meeting of the "coalition of the willing" political chatter
The result of the meeting of the so-called "coalition of the willing," which signed a declaration on the deployment of a contingent of European military personnel in Ukraine, is not yet important for Russia, due to certain conditions. This was stated to Izvestia on January 7 by political scientist, HSE professor Marat Bashirov.
"What they signed and discussed there in terms of placement — there must be certain conditions for this...> If these are the forces that will observe the truce, there is one situation. If this is another step of NATO's approach to our borders, of course they will be destroyed," the expert said.
According to Bashirov, Russia will in any case perceive the deployment of the European military near its borders as the actions of the enemy. Regardless of whether an agreement has been signed with Ukraine.
"They will not accept the placement without guarantees from our side. What this "coalition of the willing" is doing today, which is such a strange name, is political chatter. Just to maintain a certain information background," the expert said.
The economist believes that the meetings are taking place against the background of the fact that the French and German elites have so far decided that they will "sit out and wait out" US President Donald Trump.
"They hope that Trump will leave in three years and everything will come back. To do this, they are pumping money into the military industry, into the military—industrial complex," he said.
On January 6, the "coalition of willing" countries signed a declaration on the deployment of the military in Ukraine. French President Emmanuel Macron clarified that the document sets out in detail all the components of security guarantees, and the participants agreed to create a single coordination center.
The next day, the newspaper Politico reported on the refusal of the United States to sign declarations on security for Ukraine. Pavel Danilin, a political scientist and director of the Center for Political Analysis, also told Izvestia that European countries would not send their troops into Ukraine without Russia's consent.
