A possible US operation in Greenland, which belongs to Denmark, could be the end of NATO. This was stated on January 6 by the Lithuanian European Commissioner for Defense and Space, Andrius Kubilius, on the air of the LRT TV channel.
"If the US administration decided to use force to take control of Greenland, it would be the end of all transatlantic ties and NATO," Kubilius said.
According to him, the expansion of US military bases will be enough to control Greenland's security.
Kubilius made it clear that threats to take over Greenland violate NATO agreements, according to which the United States must support and protect Denmark as a member of the alliance.
