Guard Senior Sergeant Nikolai Isaev commanded a squad of an anti-aircraft missile platoon and was delivering food to an aerial surveillance post in a Buggy when he noticed that his car was being chased by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). On January 7, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported on the exploits of Russian servicemen in the area of the special military operation.

In addition to Isaev and the driver, there was a wounded Russian serviceman in the vehicle who had to be taken to the hospital. The driver tried to maneuver to avoid the drone strike, but the vehicle was hit anyway. The damage precluded further movement, and the car caught fire. Isaev pulled a wounded comrade out of the Buggy. Together with the driver, they set off on foot, taking turns carrying the wounded man and repelling attacks by drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The evacuation was successful, and the wounded soldier was handed over to the medics to provide the necessary assistance.

The Defense Ministry also noted the courage and professionalism of Senior Lieutenant Alexei Shchetinin, who led the reconnaissance group in the face of serious enemy resistance.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces conducted mortar and artillery fire, and Shchetinin decided to secretly bypass the enemy stronghold with a mortar crew in order to proceed to the assault. The support grip was successfully implemented. A radio station was found inside, with the help of which the Russian military began to monitor the enemy's negotiations, which contributed to the success of the assault groups.
