The State Duma announced a new payment deadline for housing and communal services in December 2025

Payment for housing and communal services for December must be made before January 12, as January 10 falls on a Saturday. Penalties for delay will not be charged, Alexander Aksenenko, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing, said on January 6.

"In the new year, the deadline for payment of utility bills will be postponed from the 10th to the 15th. However, in the first two months of 2026, these innovations will not be in effect yet," Aksenenko explained to RIA Novosti.

He added that in February, payment for housing and communal services will need to be made before the 10th, and some bank and post offices will be closed on public holidays. This should be taken into account when planning payments.

Earlier, on December 29, it was reported that in 2025, cases of fraud with utility bills became more frequent: scammers increasingly posed as employees of management companies and used fake messenger services to lure money from Russians. Fake GIS housing and communal services bots, sending fake receipts and number substitution were often used. Such schemes are becoming more and more technologically advanced, experts warned.
