The UN Secretary General said the United States violated international law in Venezuela.

The United States did not comply with international law by conducting its operation in Venezuela. This was announced on January 5 by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres at a meeting of the Security Council.

"I have consistently stressed the need for full respect by all of international law, including the UN Charter, which lays the foundation for maintaining international peace and security. I remain deeply concerned that the norms of international law were not respected during the military operations on January 3," Guterres said.

He also noted that the future of Venezuela after the US operation remains uncertain and causes great concern.
