Air defense systems destroyed a drone flying to Moscow. This was announced on January 5 by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

"The Defense Ministry's air defense system destroyed a drone flying to Moscow," he wrote on the MAX messenger.

Seven minutes later, Sobyanin announced the elimination of another UAV. According to him, emergency services specialists are working at the crash sites of the drones.

On January 5, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that air defense systems had destroyed 50 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over the regions of the Russian Federation. The largest number of drones was eliminated over the territory of the Belgorod region — 44. Four more drones were destroyed over the Kursk region and two over the Lipetsk region.
