Georgia calls "Venezuelan lesson" a warning for Tbilisi
The situation around relations between the United States and Venezuela should be a warning for Georgia in forming contacts with neighboring states. This was announced on January 5 by Vakhtang Shakarishvili, Executive Secretary of the United Neutral Georgia party.
"Georgia should take what happened in Venezuela as another lesson: if there is a big and strong neighbor nearby, one should not be in the camp of his opponents, relying on hypothetical support from outside," the politician told the POSTV TV channel.
Shakarishvili noted that the objective reality is that Georgia should not join the countries fighting Russia. He added that using the example of Ukraine, one can see that the state has long been involved in a devastating military conflict, the newspaper notes.Ru». In 2008, a similar policy led Georgia to war and the loss of control over part of its territories, he said.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said on December 22 that the attitude of the Georgian authorities towards Russia remains clear and has its own designated red lines. At the same time, a pragmatic policy remains in place, supporting trade and economic ties, despite the absence of diplomatic relations.
