The Czech national team defeated its rivals from Canada in the match of the 1/2 finals of the 2026 World Youth Hockey Championship among players under the age of 20. The match on January 5 on the ice of the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul (Minnesota) ended with a resounding score of 6-4.

As a result, in the final, the Czech national team will compete with the Swedish team, which beat the Finnish hockey players in shootouts (2:1, regular time — 3:3). The match will take place on January 6th.

The Czechs have not won the tournament since 2001, when Pavel Brandl, who was remembered by Russians, was the top scorer, Sport-Express pointed out. The Canadians will now compete for third place in the match with Finland.

On January 2, the Finnish national hockey team defeated the U.S. team in the quarterfinals of the World Youth Hockey Championship, winning in overtime with a score of 4:3, and advanced to the semifinals of the tournament.
