It became known about the delivery of IED parts for the assassination of General Kirillov from Poland

Parts of an improvised explosive device (IED) that was used to commit a terrorist attack against the chief of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Forces (RCBZ) The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov and his assistant, Major Ilya Polikarpov, were brought from Warsaw under the guise of building materials. A participant in the trial told about this on January 5.

He noted that the coordinators organized shipments of allegedly construction supplies, under the guise of which parts of explosives were hidden. They were crossing from Warsaw to Moscow.

"In one of the 10 rented apartments, Akhmadjon Kurbonov (listed as a terrorist and extremist) assembled an IED, with which the crime was committed," TASS quoted the source as saying.

Kirillov and his assistant died on the morning of December 17, 2024, as a result of the detonation of an explosive device planted in a scooter at the entrance of an apartment building in Moscow. On September 20, 11 people were recognized as victims in the criminal case of the murder of General Kirillov.

On October 8, 2025, the Investigative Committee of Russia completed an investigation into the terrorist attack in which Kirillov died. It was clarified that for a long time they had been preparing for the crime on the territory of Ukraine. In the fall of 2024, the organizers planned to ship components of an improvised explosive device disguised as household items from Poland to Russia.

On November 5, the court began considering the criminal case against Akhmadjon Kurbonov, Robert Safaryan, Batukhan Tochiev and Ramazan Padiyev (listed as terrorists and extremists). On the same day, due to the prevention of the threat, the court closed the trial in the case. It was noted that Kurbonov and Safaryan pleaded guilty.

On December 24, the prosecutor asked to sentence Kurbonov to life imprisonment. For the rest of the defendants, the prosecution requested terms ranging from 24 to 28 years.
