The half-sister of Anne Frank, Eva Schloss, who survived the Holocaust, died at the age of 97 in London. This was reported on January 4 by the Jewish News, citing Schloss' family and loved ones.

"We at the Anne Frank Foundation deeply mourn her loss and extend our sincere condolences to her family and friends at this difficult time," said Dan Green, executive director of the Anne Frank Charitable Foundation in the UK.

Schloss was born in 1929 in Austria, from where her family fled to Amsterdam from the Nazis. There she met Frank and her relatives. In 1942, both families were betrayed and captured. After the war, Schloss's mother married Frank's father, as her husband was killed.

In 1990, Schloss co-founded the Anne Frank Trust UK, a British foundation created to empower young people to fight prejudice. Queen Camilla of Great Britain became his first royal patron in January 2024.
