The interim president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez, may face a worse situation than that faced by abducted Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro if she disagrees with Washington. This was announced on January 4 by US President Donald Trump.

"It's worse, much worse. <...> She will face a situation possibly worse than Maduro," he said while aboard his liner.

Accordingly, Trump responded to a question he received from journalists about the possible consequences that Rodriguez might face if she was not satisfied with the US position. The American leader added that he should not have advertised it.

On January 4, Bloomberg reported that the Venezuelan Supreme Court recognized Rodriguez as interim president. It was also noted that the US administration was at the stage of determining further steps regarding Caracas. On the same day, Trump had already warned Rodriguez about the need to pay a "high price" for disagreeing with his government.

The Acting President of the Republic, in turn, noted that Caracas attaches great importance to building mutually respectful relations with Washington, and also invited the American side to work together on a cooperation program.
