Kornet ATGM crews destroyed the Ukrainian Armed Forces strongholds in the Zaporizhia region

Calculations of the Kornet anti-tank missile systems (ATGMS) of the Vostok group of forces destroyed fortified strongholds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Zaporizhia region. This was announced on January 5 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

"Basically, we open the dugouts <...> and work on the enemy's manpower. We have a bigger caliber. And [the FPV drone] will work, it may not open this dugout. And our 152-caliber rocket will burn everything out there. Well, let's move on, let's move on. We are not standing still, the enemy is running," said the commander of the ATGM squad with the call sign Shaman.

According to the ministry, calculations of reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the troops of the unmanned systems (UAVs) of the Vostok group of forces revealed fortified enemy strongholds in the forest belts, as well as enemy manpower presumably in hiding. After additional exploration and clarification of the coordinates, the target data was transferred to the Kornet ATGM calculations. Having taken up positions, the crews promptly fired guided missiles with a thermobaric warhead at the identified targets.

"If we know the calculation of the approach rocket, that is, we can calculate it simply, take the azimuth, calculate how much flight time we have. <...> When we have a target in that line of sight, we can shoot without seeing it. <...> And when our goal approaches a certain landmark, we will simply hit it. This is a mathematical calculation," explained the commander of the ATGM platoon with the call sign Molot.

The Ministry of Defense noted that the precise defeat of targets deprived the AFU militants of the opportunity to gain a foothold in positions and regroup on the ground.

On January 4, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the crew of the Su-34 multifunctional supersonic fighter-bomber of the Aerospace Forces (VKS) destroyed the temporary deployment point of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of responsibility of the Vostok group of forces. Aviation weapons were used to strike at the specified coordinates. After receiving intelligence data confirming the complete destruction of the intended target, the crew successfully returned to base.
