Junior Sergeant Alexander Veprev, who was wounded by shrapnel during a combat mission as part of an assault group due to the detonation of an FPV drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), killed several Ukrainian militants and provided medical assistance to a wounded colleague. This was announced on January 5 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

The department said that the junior sergeant, who was wounded during the assault, gave himself first aid and stopped the bleeding, and then continued to carry out his combat mission. During the ongoing battle, Veprev destroyed several enemy fighters who occupied a fortified firing point and prevented the advance of the Russian assault group.

After the enemy was destroyed, Veprev helped to provide first aid to his comrade-in-arms and together with him was evacuated to a medical facility to receive qualified medical care.

The Russian Defense Ministry noted that thanks to the courage and selfless actions of the junior sergeant, the Russian assault group captured the enemy stronghold.

The ministry also noted the actions of the guard of Private Alexei Scheinmayer, who, while performing a task as part of an assault group, stopped a mortar attack launched by the Ukrainian military on his colleagues. Having taken cover from the explosions, a private guardsman discovered an enemy unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of a reconnaissance type, which was engaged in correcting fire. Scheinmayer took an advantageous position and destroyed the facility with his personal small arms.

Immediately after that, a private guardsman discovered an enemy FPV drone approaching the group. Showing composure, Scheinmayer used accurate shots to neutralize the enemy drone, which posed a danger to the assault group.

The defense Ministry noted that thanks to the courage and professional actions of the private guard, it was possible to avoid losses among the personnel, as well as to capture enemy positions.
