Lawyer warned about fines for Christmas tree garlands on cars

Drivers who decorate their vehicles with garlands for the New Year holidays face severe administrative liability. This was announced on January 4 by automotive lawyer Lev Voropaev.

"If the red garland lights fall on the front hemisphere of the car, then the owner of the car faces the deprivation of the right to drive for six months to a year for using red lights on the vehicle," the lawyer said in an interview with the newspaper.Ru».

Voropayev noted that law enforcement officers may regard the garland of a car's license plate number as the use of objects that restrict the registration plate. According to Articles 12.2 and 12.5 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation, this violation is punishable by deprivation of the right to manage for up to one and a half years.

The lawyer warned that before decorating your car, you should check the rules of the road (SDA) and make sure that the festive attributes are correctly positioned on the body. Voropayev added that decorating the roof of the car with tinsel does not qualify as a violation.
