Russian skier Daria Nepryaeva became the sixth in the mass start of the Tour de Ski
Russian 23-year-old skier Daria Nepryaeva became the sixth in the mass start of the Tour de Ski in the 10 km freestyle. The race took place on January 4 in Val di Fiemme, Italy.
Nepryaeva overcame the distance with a little more than an hour and four minutes behind the leader from Norway, Caroline Simpson-Larsen. In the overall standings, the Russian took 10th place.
"Daria did well. It was very difficult for her to climb higher, because the competitors were far enough away from her. I liked the way it went uphill, it decomposed quite smoothly. I didn't like the first part: I lost a lot of positions, I went far enough. <...> I'm sure she made the right conclusions, she'll understand that she needs to be in the group, try to keep her position," Nepryaeva's coach Egor Sorin quotes TASS.
On December 29, Russian skier Savely Korostelev took ninth place in the 10 km classic style race at the World Cup stage as part of the multi-day Tour de Ski in Toblach, Italy. This is the first time in an athlete's career to reach the top 10 at the World Cup. The Russian athlete is 22 years old, he performs at the tournament in a neutral status. Korostelev is a two-time world junior champion and a two-time Russian champion.
