The countries of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) are planning to hold a meeting to discuss the US attack on Venezuela. On January 4, this was announced by the head of the Secretary General of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, Maria Laura da Rocha.

"At the moment, a meeting of CELAC ministers is planned, that is, with the participation of all countries of the Latin American region. It is scheduled for tomorrow, around 2 p.m. Brasilia time (20:00 Moscow time)," she said during a press statement.

A day earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States had successfully launched a large-scale strike on Venezuela. He noted that Maduro and his wife were captured and taken out of the territory of the state.

The Russian Foreign Ministry called on the American leadership to release Maduro. In addition, the Ministry also stressed the need to create conditions for resolving existing problems between the parties through diplomatic means.

Later, the American leader said that there was extensive evidence of Maduro's alleged crimes. Thus, the president of Venezuela, according to his information, personally supervised the activities of the Cartel de los Soles (Cartel of the Suns. — Ed.), who was transporting drugs to the United States.

An aircraft carrying Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Celia Flores, landed at New York Airport. Later, demonstrations against the US actions in Venezuela began near the airbase where Maduro arrived.

On January 3, NBC News published footage of Maduro and his wife being escorted off a plane that landed in New York. The footage shows how the Venezuelan leader got off the plane in handcuffs.
