The share of the dollar in payments through the SWIFT interbank system decreased in annual terms in November 2025 for the first time in the last five years. Such data was provided by RIA Novosti on January 3, analyzing the statistics of the system.

By the end of November, the share of the US currency was 46.77%, which is 0.91 percentage points lower than in the same period last year. Such a decrease in late autumn was recorded for the first time since 2020, when in November the dollar's share decreased by 2.76 percentage points to 37.63%. The most noticeable increase in the dollar was recorded in the fall of 2023: then, compared with November of the previous year, its share increased by 5.7 percentage points, reaching 47.08%.

The euro still ranks second in terms of payments in the SWIFT system. At the same time, its share over the past five years has demonstrated more unstable dynamics than that of the dollar, alternating sharp falls and growth. So, in 2023, against the background of strengthening the dollar's position, the share of the euro immediately decreased by 13.17 percentage points to 22.95%. In November 2025, the indicator, on the contrary, increased by 1.54 percentage points compared to the same month last year and amounted to 23.83%.

On January 2, it became known that the Russian ruble, which has strengthened by 31% compared to 2024, has become the most valuable currency against the dollar in the past year. Thus, the ruble outperformed the Swedish krona, which has gained 19.9% in this rating over the past year, as well as the Hungarian forint, which is in third place, which has risen in price by 19.4%.
