The Russian spoke about the difficulties of leaving Venezuela
Currently, there are difficulties in Venezuela with leaving and entering the republic, Alexander Karpetsky, a Russian living there, told Izvestia on January 3.
"At the moment, everyone who is trying to leave Venezuela is saying that it is impossible because all entrances, exits, everything is blocked. <...> And civilians, of course, are staying at home, afraid to leave. And those who tried to leave said that the exits were blocked. <...> There is absolutely no way by air," he said.
According to him, the situation in the country is tense now: some aggressive citizens take to the streets, and there are provocateurs. A large number of police and military personnel are on duty in Caracas.
On the same day, it became known that Conviasa Airlines canceled a flight from Moscow to Caracas, which was scheduled for January 5. It was noted that flight V0771 was scheduled to depart from Vnukovo to Caracas on January 5 at 11:00 Moscow time, but its status was changed to "canceled."
American leader Donald Trump said that the United States had successfully launched a large-scale strike on Venezuela. He added that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his family have been captured and taken out of the country. According to the President of the United States, the operation was carried out with the participation of American law enforcement agencies.
The Venezuelan authorities have declared a state of emergency in the country due to the American strikes. In turn, Colombian President Gustavo Petro called for an urgent meeting of the United Nations and the Organization of American States.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also expressed deep concern and condemnation after the US military operation in Venezuela. The Russian side reaffirmed its solidarity with the Venezuelan people and their leadership and called for preventing further escalation of tension between the two countries.
