- Sobyanin appreciated the popularity of the Days of Historical and Cultural Heritage in Moscow
About 2,000 different events took place as part of the 25th anniversary Days of Historical and Cultural Heritage in Moscow last year, attended by more than 50,000 people. This was announced by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.
He recalled that the campaign had previously been held for only a month and a half, from April 18 to the end of May. In 2025, it was decided to extend it until the end of the year.
During the events, access was organized to "more than 300 historical and cultural monuments," and "excursions were conducted by over 300 certified guides and guides, translators, museum staff, representatives of facilities and architects, restorers," Sobyanin said in his channel in the IACH.
As part of the Days of Historical and Cultural Heritage, those who wished "managed to show many interesting objects that could not receive guests on normal dates," the mayor noted.
In particular, in April and May, it was possible to visit the embassy mansions, historical and cultural monuments housing diplomatic missions of foreign countries. Among them are the Lazarev estate (the Embassy of Armenia), the Lopatina mansion (the Embassy of Brazil), the house of the merchant Kuleshov (the Embassy of Argentina) and others.
The program also provided for the opportunity to visit the Dolgorukov—Bobrinsky urban estate, the Tsemerzhinskaya apartment building, the Ostankino Estate's Egyptian Pavilion and the VDNH historical pavilions. Muscovites also had the opportunity to be among the first to visit the recently renovated club of the Svoboda factory, where the House of Russian Billiards now operates.
As Sobyanin noted, an important part of the Heritage Days was a series of excursions dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory. "Their participants walked along special routes dedicated to the history of Moscow's districts: Shchukin, Lefortov, Dorogomilov, Tagansky, Tverskaya and Meshchansky. We learned about the masking of buildings and their use during the war years," the mayor wrote.
