In 2025, Russians deposited almost 500 tons of small change in banks as part of the Coin Week

In 2025, 485 tons of coins equivalent to 487 million rubles were deposited in banks and shops in Russia during the annual Coin Week campaign. This follows from the data of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation on January 3.

In November, the Bank of Russia reported that 250 tons of coins returned to circulation in October, and 235 tons in April.

"In total, during five actions, residents of the country returned more than 215 million coins worth almost 956 million rubles to circulation," the Central Bank said in a publication on its website.

It is specified that the total weight of the collected fines exceeds 962 tons.

On May 30, the Central Bank announced that more than 51 million coins worth almost 242 million rubles were returned to monetary circulation by Russians during the annual Coin Week campaign. It was clarified that most of the coins were collected by residents of Moscow, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, as well as the Krasnodar Territory.
