Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has been accused of rewriting the country's history due to an error in the founding date of the Polish state, which he made during a New Year's address. This was reported on January 2 by the Fakt publication.
In his New Year's address, Tusk said that 2026 was the 1001st year since the founding of Poland, but the Poles themselves trace their statehood back to 966, the date of the baptism of Prince Mieszko I Piast.
