The Interior Ministry reported calls from fraudsters to banks under the guise of their victims

The attackers, on behalf of the victim, contact the bank with a request to block bank accounts, and subsequently use this information to blackmail the cardholder. This follows from the materials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, which were reviewed by RIA Novosti on January 3.

"The attacker calls the bank, posing as a real customer. He reports that he has lost his phone and bank card, and asks to block all accounts. To do this, it is enough for him to tell the operator your last name, first name, patronymic and date of birth," the agency's materials say.
