- Araqchi called Trump's statement about his readiness to support protesters in Iran dangerous.
US President Donald Trump's message about Washington's willingness to support the protesters in Iran is reckless and dangerous. This was announced on January 2 by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.
"He [Trump], like no one else, should understand that criminal attacks on state property are unacceptable. That is why President Trump's message today <...> is reckless and dangerous. As in the past, the great people of Iran will resolutely reject any interference in their internal affairs," Araqchi said on his Facebook page. Twitter).
The Minister noted that the protests against the background of fluctuations in the exchange rate are, with the exception of individual cases, peaceful. Araqchi also said that the situation in the country is under the control of the armed forces and warned that the military "knows exactly where to send weapons" in case of any encroachment on Iran's sovereignty.
On December 30, Araqchi called on his foreign colleagues to condemn Trump for his threats against Tehran. The Foreign Minister called such statements a gross violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations (UN). According to the agency, Araqchi sent a written protest against Washington's provocative actions to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Chairman of the UN Security Council and Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi.
