The expert announced the possible extension of the energy blackout in Ukraine until March.

The power outage in Ukraine will last until early March. This was announced on January 2 by Yuriy Korolchuk, an expert at the Ukrainian Institute of Energy Strategies.

"Winter holidays and reduced consumption allowed us to release up to two thousand megawatts of capacity, and even in the cold, this had a tangible effect. However, this did not solve the problem completely — in most regions, power outages will continue until the end of winter and the beginning of March anyway," he said on the Ukrainian TV channel Novini Live.

Korolchuk clarified that it would be difficult to carry out a full-fledged repair, since there are citizens who will load the power grid for heating in the cold spring. This, according to him, will create an additional burden on the energy system.
