In the Murmansk region, during a group ice-floating (swimming in cold water in a wetsuit), a woman was swept away by the current of the Tuloma River. This was reported on January 2 in the press service of the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region.
It was established that on January 1, during an event in the waters of the Tuloma River, a woman born in 1968 disappeared in an unknown direction. Currently, her location has not been determined, and investigators are working at the scene to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
"A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life or health of consumers)," the material says.
Earlier, on October 24, 2025, two men on the Biryusa River in the Irkutsk region were swept away by the current on a detached ice floe. It was reported that three rescuers arrived at the scene, who established that the men managed to get out on their own. So, they walked 300 m through shallow water downstream, then came ashore on ice floes and reached the village of Ust-Yaga, where their car was located.
