The cause of the fire in a bar in the ski resort of Crans-Montana in Switzerland could be festive candles. This was announced on January 1 by a representative of the fire service in an interview with BFMTV.
According to him, the fire was caused by someone accidentally knocking over a candle.
"They (the dead. — Ed.) were blocked in the hall on the basement floor, where the disco was taking place," said a representative of the fire service.
An explosion and fire at the ski resort were reported earlier that day. According to the RTS TV channel, the incident occurred on New Year's Eve. According to law enforcement agencies, this incident does not qualify as a terrorist act. At the time of the fire, there were more than 100 people inside the building. The Russian Embassy in Switzerland also informed that it had not received any information about the injured Russians after the explosion and fire in the Constellation bar.
