Former Spartak Moscow football player Mukhsin Mukhamadiev died at the age of 60. This was announced on January 1 by his widow, Mokhira Mukhamadieva.

On November 15 last year, Mukhamadiev was hospitalized in intensive care and was in serious condition after suffering strokes.

"Yes, it happened tonight," Mukhamadieva confirmed the death of her husband to TASS.

The athlete was born on October 21, 1966 in Dushanbe. In 1985, he began his career at the Pamir football club, and after the collapse of the USSR, he began playing in Russia for such clubs as Moscow's Lokomotiv, Spartak, Torpedo, and Yaroslavl Shinnik. Over the years, he also played for Turkish Ankara and Austria Vienna.

In 1994, Mukhamadiev became the champion of Russia with Spartak. From 2008 to 2012, he worked as the sports director of Rubin Kazan, during which the club twice became the champion of Russia and won the Cup and the Super Cup of the country. As the head coach, Mukhamadiev twice led the Istiqlol club to victory in the Tajik championship.
