- The VTP announced the plans of hundreds of German firms to continue doing business in the Russian Federation
The vast majority of German organizations plan to continue operating in the Russian Federation, and only 4% of the total number of these companies have expressed a desire to stop doing business in this country. This was stated by Matthias Schepp, Chairman of the Board of the German-Russian Chamber of Commerce.
"Only 4% of German companies intend to leave the [Russian] market <...> (Others. — Ed.) they want to stand up," TASS quoted him as saying.
The expert clarified that almost half of the survey participants — 49% — are convinced that the sanctions imposed against Russia are causing more damage to Germany. Therefore, as Schepp stressed, the belief spread by the countries of the European Union (EU) that these measures will force Moscow to sit down at the negotiating table is a "risky gamble."
He added that the Russian economy is resistant to sanctions, but this fact is underestimated in the West, which leads, as he noted, to miscalculations in assessing the real situation in Russia.
On July 21, 2025, Waldemar Eberhardt, a member of the German-Russian Military-Technical Cooperation, the head of the Bavaria-Bau construction company, clarified that Western countries realize the futility of their attempts to defeat the Russian Federation by imposing sanctions. According to him, representatives of European states realize that it is necessary to establish relations with the Russian side, which is actively advocated by German businessmen.
