A powerful explosion in a bar in the Crans-Montana ski resort in Switzerland on New Year's Eve provoked panic and stampede, resulting in the deaths of people. Samuel Rapp, an eyewitness to the tragedy, told Izvestia about this on January 1.

"People were screaming, and then they were lying dead on the ground. Their faces were covered with jackets... They tried to get out, but they crushed each other, it was very difficult to get out," Rapp said.

According to him, he arrived at the scene half an hour after the explosion, when police and doctors were already working at the scene, setting up a protective perimeter.

Samuel Rapp noted that he knew this institution well, which was popular among local youth. He and his friends often went there in their youth. The causes of the explosion and the exact number of victims are being determined by the investigation.

The explosion and fire at the ski resort became known earlier that day. According to the RTS TV channel, the incident occurred on New Year's Eve. According to law enforcement agencies, the incident does not qualify as a terrorist act. There were over 100 people inside the building at the time of the fire. Those who died when a fire broke out in a bar at the Crans-Montana ski resort in Switzerland were trapped in the basement hall where the disco was taking place. In addition, the Russian Embassy in Switzerland stated that it had not received information about injured Russians after the explosion and fire in the Constellation bar.
