- Sobyanin expressed condolences to the loved ones of those killed by the Ukrainian drone strike
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin called the drone attack in the Kherson region "another monstrous crime of the Kiev regime," where at least 24 people were killed and about 50 others injured.
"I am sorry to all the relatives of the victims. I have the strength to survive this terrible tragedy. I wish a speedy recovery to all those injured," Sobyanin wrote on his channel in the IACH.
Moscow is "ready to provide all necessary assistance," the mayor added.
Earlier on Thursday, the governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, announced that on New Year's Eve, three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attacked a cafe and a hotel in the village of Khorly.
According to Baldo, the Ukrainian Armed Forces purposefully hit the place where civilians celebrated the New Year. The attack was carried out almost under the chiming clock, he noted.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the attack should be blamed on countries sponsoring Ukrainian terrorism. The diplomat compared the UAV strike to a war crime during the Great Patriotic War, when Ukrainian collaborators burned people in the Belarusian Khatyn.
