About 400 people were detained during New Year's Eve celebrations in Berlin. This was reported on January 1 by the newspaper Der Tagesspiegel.

"On New Year's Eve, there were many attacks on law enforcement officers. About 400 people were temporarily detained in Berlin. At least 24 police officers were injured," the publication says.

Earlier, on December 27, 2025, Paris police detained 40 people for launching fireworks and smoke bombs on Trocadero Square opposite the Eiffel Tower and on the Seine embankment. According to law enforcement officials, the detainees were identified using surveillance cameras.
